From BSPT and NPT threaded fittings to compression and push-to-connect options, our collection of brass plumbing fittings and accessories provides all the components you need for reliable, leak-free connections.

Brass Fittings, Connections, Valves, and Accessories

Brass excels under intense heat and pressure  remains structurally stable at temperatures above 180°F (82°C), so it’s an excellent match for solar water heating and glycol-based loops in colder climates. Unlike plastic or PVC, brass resists scaling and mineral buildup, maintaining efficiency within heat exchangers and closed-loop systems. It also handles expansion and contraction without cracking, which is helpful in freeze-prone regions.

Exceptional Heat and Pressure Resistance

In solar water heating and hydronic heating systems, fluid temperatures can exceed 180°F (82°C) or higher. Brass pipe fittings withstand extreme heat without deforming, expanding, which makes them ideal for closed-loop and open-loop solar systems.

  • Compatible with Glycol & High-Temperature Fluids: Brass resists degradation from propylene glycol, commonly used in solar thermal loops to prevent freezing in colder climates.

  • Handles High PSI Ratings: Unlike plastic or PVC, brass fittings maintain their seal even under high pressure, making them ideal for vacuum tube solar collectors and pressurized solar storage tanks.

Corrosion Resistance

Exposure to solar-heated water, glycol mixtures, and fluctuating temperatures can degrade inferior materials. Brass resists corrosion, oxidation, and chemical reactions, ensuring a leak-free system even after years of operation.

  • Prevents Scaling & Mineral Buildup: Brass fittings minimize the scaling that can be caused by hard water and high temperatures.

  • Resists Freezing Damage: Brass expands and contracts without cracking, making it more durable than brittle plastics in freeze-prone regions.

BSPT vs. NPT Fittings

BSPT fittings use a 55-degree taper for a snug, pressure-resistant fit, whereas NPT fittings rely on a 60-degree taper and generally need Teflon tape or a sealant for leak prevention. Because these two thread types aren’t compatible, it’s important to match your system with the correct style to avoid installation issues.

Essential Brass Fittings for Solar and Hydronic Heating Systems

  1. Compression Fittings
A popular choice for copper piping in solar collectors, compression fittings create a secure bond without soldering, saving time and reducing the chance of leaks. They’re frequently used in pressurized solar loops and other high-pressure applications.

  2. Flare Fittings
Often found in solar collector manifolds and refrigerant lines, flare fittings form a strong, high-pressure seal. These fittings work well in systems that handle both glycol and refrigerant.

  3. Push-to-Connect Fittings
For rapid installation of PEX and flexible tubing, push-to-connect fittings are a go-to solution. They snap into place without specialized tools and are common in radiant floor heating systems and solar water circulation loops.

  4. Threaded Brass Fittings (BSPT & NPT)
Threaded fittings offer versatility for everything from vacuum tube solar installations to solar storage tanks. Available in both FIP and MIP configurations, they provide a reliable seal for high-pressure systems.
