Why Flexible Stainless Steel as a Solar Hose?
Annealing heat treatment, food safety grade, no soldering joint, up to 100 linear meter per roll, can be cut to any length thus eliminating waste, much faster and easier installation than Copper and even PEX. Stainless steel corrugated pipe is a must-have for any solar installation. It is highly resistant to corrosion and heat losses. Traditional copper piping loses heat 20 times faster than stainless steel corrugated pipe due to the much higher heat conductivity of copper, resulting in much higher efficiency for solar systems which use stainless steel corrugated pipe. Because of the lower conductivity of heat, not only does it save energy, but the stainless steel corrugated pipe also will not reach as high temperatures as copper would and thus negates the problem of insulation melting or catching on fire.
Pressure and Temperature Rating:
Working Temperature range from -200℃ to 150℃, Max to 175℃ (including Joints).
DN | ID mm | OD mm | Thickness (mm) | Bending Radius mm | Maximum Applicable Pressure Kgf/cm2 | Burst Pressure Kgf/cm2 |
DN12 (1/2") | 12 | 16 | 0.21 | 30 | 17.5 | 200 |
DN16 (3/4") | 16 | 20 | 0.21 | 50 | 15 | 200 |

Joinability and Ease of Fabrication:
Since Stainless Steel corrugated pipes are flexible, they are much easier to work with. All the installer has to do is to open the box, uncoil the piping and then start snacking it through the building. Unlike Copper Coils, changing directions with Stainless Pipes does not required any Cutting, welding, brazing or special tools (such as pipe Bender, etc...). For More information on how to manipulate Solar Flexible Stainless Steel pipes, refer to our technical Blog: Step by Step Solar Hose Installation.
Friction Loss:
This product has a great place in systems whose pump flow rates are small if you used the 3/4 inch stainless steel corrugated pipe. On the one hand, the 1/2 inch SS Pipe has about four to five time the head loss of smooth copper pipe of the same size. On the other hand SS Pipe has less short radius elbows. That's why we don't recommend using the 1/2 Inch pipe size for applications having more than one Vacuum Tube Collector. For more information please refer to our Flexible Solar Pipes Friction Loss Chart.
